Kalmar log stackers are purpose built machines designed to handle round wood in timber processing plants. Production of Kalmar's log stacker dates back to early 1970s. Today, more than 700 log stackers have been delivered throughout the world.
There is a variety of Kalmar log stackers models currently on the market. Designed to cope with various different requirements they are, capable of handling short, cut-to-length and tree length wood for pulp and paper mills, chipboard mills, saw mills and wood terminals.
Kalmar log stackers have a lifting capacity of between 15 and 30 tonnes, and a stacking height up to nine metres. The rotating grapple and a telescopic boom means that the Kalmar log stacker is an ideally suited to unloading trucks and rail wagons, stacking wood andfeeding the process.
The Kalmar family of log stackers has been specially developed to address the need to utilize wood yard storage space in a more efficient manner. It does this by "high stacking" in free air space. The resulting shorter travel distances translate into real production increases with savings in operation and wood yard maintenance costs.
