Customer enjoys benefits of one-stop shopping from Cargotec

The merger of Hiab and Kalmar to form Cargotec UK Limited has created new opportunities to offer customers a wider range of sales and service solutions and to simply the order process and management of the equipment over its lifetime.  One example of how this has worked in practice is from Alan Firmin Limited who recently took delivery of five Hiab truck-mounted forklifts and one Kalmar shunter.

The customer, based in Kent, England and a provider of distribution and haulage services, needed the equipment within three months. Cargotec was able to accommodate the short delivery time and administrate training for operators on both the truck-mounted forklifts and terminal tractor. Appreciating convenience and peace of mind in dealing with only one service provider, Alan Firmin also awarded Cargotec a five-year maintenance contract for the new equipment.

Having delivered all of the equipment on schedule, Stuart Joyce, Fleet Manager for Alan Firmin, was asked the following questions:

Why did you choose Cargotec as your equipment and service provider?

We as a company carried out extensive research on all the equipment we required. After a lengthy review, we established that the equipment offered by Cargotec would give us a good return on our investment from both an operational point of view and the support package that was offered.

Was it an advantage to be able to purchase multi-products from one supplier?

This was a major influence on our decision.  The information supplied and the support received from both Cargotec’s sales team and technical support gave us a feeling of confidence.  Being able to purchase all the equipment from one Supplier makes the capital investment easier to manage.  In addition to this, if we have service issues we only have one call to make.

What has been your overall experience working with Cargotec?

All good working relationships are built around trust, and we have that feeling dealing with Cargotec.  They are experts in the field of load handling equipment and were able to help us by advising us on both legal and operational issues that we had not even considered.   Our experience to date has been first class. We are now in discussions for an additional terminal tractor.
